Sarah Lonsdale & Matt Dick

EXAMINING FORM IN JAPANESE ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN & FASHION
Sarah Lonsdale is an editor and co-founder of the online interiors site, REMODELISTA. She worked in television and advertising for many years, of which nine were spent in Tokyo. She is the author of ‘Japanese Style’ which was published by Carlton books in 2001. She was also a contributor to an online Japanese woman’s magazine long before blogs ever existed. She has lived in London, Paris, Tokyo and San Francisco and currently lives in the Napa Valley.
Matt Dick is a designer and creative director. Based in San Francisco, his work in textile and clothing design, fashion branding, and product development has kept him involved in the Japanese market since 1997. He spent eight years working for Tamotsu Yagi Design, after which he opened MATOCREATIVE, continuing to work in the areas of clothing and costume design, space design, and art direction. He spent two years as guest faculty in the Design and Technology department of the San Francisco Art Institute. His most recent project was for Bardessono, a modern luxury hotel, with LEED platinum certification where he served as a creative force for the staff uniform and hotel shop concept; and is currently buyer for the shop.
Together, Sarah and Matt bring 25 years worth of combined experience and a uniquely western perspective on the culture of Japanese style and design.
